Ogre has risen to the very top of the contemporary synthwave scene in the last few years. Releasing just one brilliant and original album after another, he has become a household name when it comes to quality releases. We’d even call him the virtual king of the imaginary soundtrack (his recent article on Bandcamp proves that) as he sets himself apart as a true connoisseur of the genre, playing leading role himself. Along with his mate Dallas Campbell, the two are providing some amazing analogue glory.
Here we have his latest album, a stellar 2-tracker of stretched, spaced-out hardware improvisations that lead us to the stars and beyond. An inviting staircase of arpeggios is rolled out and takes your hand, brings you in a state of weightlessness and get you floating like a body losing it’s gravity.
The mind? The mind is still very present, aware, as all of the sudden you start to hear, see and feel things multidimensional.Painted on a mural of hardware bliss, letting go is key here, as you surrender to the ambience of his imaginary landscape. Entrancing like a top notch cyber score, Ogre and the listener are surpassing themselves.
